The department of pharmacology was started in March 2021 with 150 MBBS students every academic year. The pharmacology curriculum enlightens the students with knowledge about the various drugs along with their clinical implications.
Medical pharmacology is taught to the students through various academic activities like lecture classes, self-directed learning sessions, small group discussions and seminars.
They undergo hands on training in the various injection techniques with the mannequins which simulate the real patients. In the computer assisted laboratory the undergraduates are trained about the various effects of drugs on common laboratory animals. Clinical Research projects involving the MBBS students are being carried out every year.
Adverse event reporting is carried out in the Pharmacovigilance program. The students are educated about the importance of reporting the adverse events to drugs and the guidelines for reporting. Pharmacovigilance week is celebrated every year in the month of September and the health care workers are sensitized regarding the adverse event reporting.
