2. About the department

The Department of Forensic Medicine was started in the year 2021 and it’s the department where the intersection of medicine, law, and science converges to advance justice and improve lives

The Department of Forensic Medicine deals with the medico legal works in Government Medical College, Krishnagiri like

  • Conducting Medicolegal autopsies (around 900 per year),
  • Examination of the accused in Sexual offence cases (around 200 per year),
  • Age Estimation of Individuals in Criminal cases and in medical board cases (around 25 per year),
  • Collection of blood in DNA cases (around 100 per year),
  • Narcotic and Prohibition cases,
  • Expert opinions in unsolved cases,
  • Training of Judges, Police personnel in Medicolegal works,
  • Academic classes for Undergraduates, Postgraduates, etc.

The department is dedicated to provide students with a comprehensive understanding ofthe medical and scientific principles that underpin the investigation of crime and theadministration of justice.
